A word in season
Like many parents of five year olds I have the dubious privelege of being treated to all sorts of "plays", "lessons" or "shows" from LM, usually as she attempts to delay the act of getting dressed.
This morning, though, was a classic demonstration of both how a child learns to recognise and use words, and possibly, how she will imitate her Daddy's love of words, puns and the like.
LM: "I'm going to give you a show!"
Me: "Oh no, not again! Anyway I don't have a season ticket, so I can't come."
LM: "Don't worry Daddy I'll go away and make one.
(pause) An autumn ticket."
I don't think it was a deliberate play on words, but it was
hugely appropriate.
