ME19four: life, faith and role-playing games
Calm before the Storm?
Category: Life (musings)
Given how busy the last few weeks have seemed it has all gone ominously quiet and, well, productive. And that's even allowed an extra day off to recover from migraine and exhaustion.
The question is either "have I got into the swing of things again?" or "what have I forgotten?"
The answer, I suppose, will be the same as to the question whether there is any truth to deja vu, "we shall see!"
Judging by appearances (or lack of them)

Go and check out
dissonant bible's take on gaps in our scriptural knowledge and teaching... if only for the Lego picture.
As promised there here's a link on the book of
Judges.
23rd post meme

This is the second time I've come across this, (first from
Kathryn and also from
/musing/struggling/dreaming) so I thought I should join in for once.
Find your 23rd blog post, then post the 5th sentence of it (or nearest equivalent). I'm not quite sure whether it aims for laughter, insight, the surreal, or the wisdom of the ages., in this hopes (I guess!) of surreal or funny results.
I come up with one of my rare poems from around Easter this year:
Leaving blossom and catkins
springing on the bare boughs
in cold, grey mist.
I think it was a comment on how nothing seemed to have changed after the potentially ever-life changing events of Easter Sunday.
Make of that what you will, dear reader(s)!
[Me, I call it work avoidance. Come to think of it, why 23five? Why not 19four? :-) ]
Easy Virtue?

Having just done an assembly on St Francis (yes,
the St Francis) and planted thoughts in young minds about the difference between wants and needs, wealth and happiness etc etc I was jolted back to reality on my way home.
Two friends of mine have recently got married, and as I drove home I passed their current home, which they have part-excanged with the developers, and the new one being built for them. I find it hard to understand why they feel the need to trade up. There are only the two of them, so why a bigger house?
The point? Who am I to comment? Yes, we lived in a three-bed semi before. It was big enough, but it came with the post. We've always rented before. We live in a very nice large house, which we can't keep clean. And again it comes with the job. Add in the fact that it will be quite a long time (if ever) before we get anywhere close to being able to buy a property.
Encouraging others to a virtuous course of action, which you yourself are not in a position to able to choose, is hardly tenable. Discuss.
A landmark of sorts

Well, I've been blogging for a few months and am now considered suitable to serve as a signpost in cyberspace. i.e. I have received my first spam comment.
The astute will, therefore, notice that I now have comment verification in place.
Don't you just love technology?

To some he's the vicar, Reverend Stuart, on a mission to help people discover the open secret of eternal life.
To others he is a writer, thinker, punster and drinking partner.
He is Dr Moose - and these are some of his thoughts.
