  Me and Christmas.
Hard on the heels of the previous post, from the man who would ban commercial Christmas tomorrow, and half-suspects that the porphet Amos' words about celebrating religious festivals shorn of intent are pretty much spot on... ("I despise your sacred feasts" or some such)

Many a true word is said in jest, so they say. So this is probably closer to the tuth than I like to admit! (Thanks to St Caserole for this)

A Christmas Carol
You are 'Christmas Time is Here, by Golly!', by Tom
Lehrer. Hmm, you really don't like Christmas,
do you? From the moment they start playing
carols in the shops in October to the
appearance of the first Easter Eggs in the
shops on New Years Eve, the rampant hypocrisy
of the Christmas spirit sets your teeth on
edge. You know just how many family fights
start over Christmas dinner, how many people
are injured in the Boxing Day sales, and how
few people actually find Christmas even
remotely merry. You liked Scrooge far better
before those ghosts got to him, and you are
only doing this quiz because you are bored at
work and anything is better than listening to
everyone else discuss their Christmas shopping.
Still, it is two days off work, which does
count for something... Enjoy the break.

What Christmas Carol are you?

"Christmas? Bah! Humbug!" (Perhaps)

Comments:
Haha, I love that song :) Christmas is always difficult, somehow, isn't it? (Sorry to hear about the lady in your congregation :( ).

Thanks for your comments of late, by the way :) It's nice to know someone's reading... specially if they aren't a heretic ;) (hehe). I'm trying to think of a suitably thoughtful response to your nice comments, and feel that any I could come up with are inadequate. But anyway, thank you :D

Sorry to hear about the boy who was killed. That's such an awful thing to happen, and I thought your sermon for the occasion was very honest and thoughtful, it must have been a comfort to his family.

(Something I've been meaning to ask... Why Dr. Moose?)

Why Dr Moose?

Well, I have no visible palmate antlers, although I do have the goatee beard...

The answer is very simple really, my surname, Mousir-Harrison, lends itself too it rather well. (And yes, I did Deed Poll it some years ago, conflating both parental surnames).

So Dr Moose is who I am. Among the household, with good friends, in the Role-Playing Games community etc etc. At theological college I stood as the spoof presidential candidate "Moosolini". Thank God I didn't win - if I'd stuck to my manifesto I would probably have been impeached! :)

And we do have a rather large number of cuddly Moose around the house, even if some of them claim to be Christmas Reindeer things, we know the truth!

To some he's the vicar, Reverend Stuart, on a mission to help people discover the open secret of eternal life. To others he is a writer, thinker, punster and drinking partner. He is Dr Moose - and these are some of his thoughts.
