Sometimes there’s a megaphone
(Being another of David's poems)
Sometimes there’s a megaphone.
It need not be the clap of thunder,
the big gesture,
the faith building effect
of the good and godly gathering in clans.
A rainbow which shouts out covenanted loving kindness
stopped me, metaphorically,
in my tracks,
though the car continued towards it.
It was, I think, part of the ongoing dialogue.
He who spoke speaks,
as always,
in a variety of ways,
diffusely and defined and in Person
and in things, places and the unexpected,
as when small whispers reverberate forcefully.
Sometimes the invigorating sting of a reminder
stirs not only a fresh response but reaches again
places which need to be revisited.
